Chris Smith Evans was raised in a military family.  As an adult she joined the mennonite church.  She says of her artwork" Simplicity, reverence & (I hope) humility have the become the goals of my life, and my  painting.  My work has become simpler & simpler.  Now I can express what I want to say with only a few colors."  And might I add a bit of wimsey.

After moving to Amish country in Ohio, Diane knew that she wanted to capture the essence of the Amish way of life.  I was told by Diane, that one day it was like a light bulb turning on in her head.  She saw a simplicity of brush stroke that evoked the outward simplicity of the Amish.  As a matter of respect, she never takes photos of the Amish, nor paints facial features.

Will Moses is an artesian well of creativity.  In his paintings, he weaves and spins an intricate tale, like an old time story teller.  If I had to describe Will Moses in two words it would be artistic integrity.  He was raised to be an artist and a farmer.  He married his childhood sweetheart, and they have three children.  He lives in the farm house in which Grandma Moses started her legendary career.  Will credits his artistic interests to his grandfather, Forrest Moses.

P. Buckley Moss

Charles Curalt called Pat Moss " the people’s artist".  P.Buckley Moss was born with a learning disability.  Her inability to read lead her to investigate other avenues of communication.  Her paintings center around the Plain people.  Pat is best known for her charitable work for children with disabilities.  She leads an army of her collectors to help advance her charitable interests.  At Galarina Folk Arts, we have a large number of framed and unframed P. Buckley Moss prints.

Charles Peterson is an artist who has a rich inner life filled with visions of the past.  His art reflects how his attention darts through time, playing with the essence on memory.  The transperency of watercolor suited his subjects well.  Charles was a professor of art at Marietta College for 14 years.  At the age of  46, Chick Peterson left the secutity of teaching to pursue a full time career as an artist.  Peterson retired from creating his "memory pantings" in September 2004.

Terry Redlin is best known for his wildlife art, but in recent years he has also turned to American nostalgia images.  He is whole heartedly in love with his country and it’s critters.  He paints with a bold masculine pallet.   Terry’s interest in the out of doors can be traced to his childhood in Watertown, South Dakota.  A motorcycle accident ended his dream of becoming a forrest ranger, and was a catalyst for discovering his artistic abilities.  He has raised over $28 million for wildlife and wetland projects.
